Staying
healthy is a major challenge for most of us. One of the main reasons is that
we are way too busy in our lives, with our chores, assignments, lectures, work.
The list is endless. How do you not get tempted to grab a McDonald’s burger
through the drive through on your way back because you know you won’t have time
to cook? What other choice do you have except buying fast-food for lunch when
your mum had to leave home early for work? I have a paper tomorrow and you
expect me to take out time from my revision and prepare dinner? Exercise? Who
has got the time for that? That’s it, we are TOO BUSY.
What
can you do to stay healthy while being the busy person that you are?
Luckily,
there are few tips which can get you there!
- Plan all of your meals ahead of time.
I bet you've heard this before and your answer must be the same again, “Where do I get all these meals ideas from at once”. Here’s the answer, research. There are so many meal plans out there on the Internet already designed for you! You’ll find few of them on this very blog, check out the right sidebar for the links. Just choose and mix and you’ll be good to go! This will save you time thinking about what to cook every day. You can also take out 1-2 hours on weekends to do your whole grocery shopping for the week since you already know what exactly you’ll be needing for your meals preparation.
- Have a healthy breakfast. Smoothie maybe?
- Be active whenever and wherever you can.
If
a busy schedule isn't allowing you regular time to exercise, aim to walk part
of your way to school, work, or home. If you take a bus or subway, get off one
or two stops before the stop closest to your destination and walk the rest of
the way. If you have to take an elevator or escalator at work or at home,
consider walking up a few flights of stairs instead. If you have time to watch
a television show in the evenings, stretch all of your major muscle groups
while you're being entertained.
As
part of your meal planning, include the meals which you have outside of home
such as lunch at work or at school. This saves time, money and inches on your
waist! It's only a hassle to do this the first week of starting the new
routine. After that, it becomes second nature.
- Schedule fitness as a priority.
At
this point, you may already be using to-do lists and calendar schedules to keep
everything in your life straight. Go ahead and add appointments for your
fitness routines. As difficult and time-consuming as this may sound, being a
fit person has many benefits and can make you save time in more ways you can
think of! You’ll be able to perform your tasks faster, with more agility and
with less stress. This is the power of exercise.
