Fall in Love with Running

Running is a cheap but very effective form of exercise. However, many of us get freaked out at the idea of being all soaked up in sweat and having sore pain the next day. Even the mere thought of running seems to be such a turn-off for most of us! We too often mistakenly associate running with dragging ourselves on the running track, going through long-lasting minutes of torture.

But what if running could be made fun and interesting? What if I tell you that there are ways to make you fall head-over-heels in love with running? What if I tell you that after reading this article, you’ll want to head out straight for a good jog? Well, read on to find out.

Here are a few tips to make running fun:
  • Forget about speeding up the whole time! Instead, mix up the pace. You’ll soon find yourself having fun with the changing speeds and might even end up playing around with your own pace of running. You’ll also find that when you slow down after a good few minutes of speeding, you are able to better catch your breath and once you recover, you’ll feel like you are ready for it all over again!

    • Do you think it’s all that bad to stop and pause for other activities while running? Well, it might actually be a great idea! How about adding some resistance training to your running routine? When you feel tired or a little out of breath, pause and do a few push-ups or abs exercises such as crunches or sit-ups! Or you can simply hold a plank position which is a very effective exercise for strengthening your core muscles.
    • Stop running without a purpose! This is super-boring. You’ll soon find that you have no point in running at all. Do you think the motivation to lose some weight will last all the way while you run? You’re wrong! But how to find a purpose for running? I might have the answer for you. Try setting a specific destination while you run. For instance, let’s just assume you want to say hi to your friend who lives a few miles away, so you run to his place, meet up with him for a few minutes, run to another place or to a few more places you like and run back home. Just as a matter of motivation, take a few selfies while you run to places you like!
    • Do not ever underestimate the power of good music while running! Create a fun playlist and just plug in your earphones while you cover the miles. Having good motivational workout music helps in more ways than you think. Firstly, you do not even realise how much time has passed. If you really like the music you’re running to, you do not feel like stopping. With the right kind of music, you find yourself more motivated than ever!
    • Dress up well! This is often an aspect of jogging which is ignored by too many. Imagine you wear that sexy new sports outfit and hit the park. You’ll immediately feel the admiring stares on you and if you’re like me, it will definitely make you feel good about yourself and boost your confidence. Only shopping for nice sports outfit makes me feel like running in them!
    So, READY? Get Set! GO!
